COMBATANTS WITHOUT BURIAL PLACE

There are lots of combatants fallen in the Chemin des Dames during WWI, whose bodies couldn’t have been identified, not even found. The unidentified remains are generally in the ossuaries of the Chemin des Dames military cemeteries.

However, we are still finding sporadically some bodies, but without being able to identify them as their regimental number disappeared.

Today, few combatants without burial place couldn’t have been incorporated into the Virtual Memorial. Our work of integration for these thousands of combatants is in a first step essentially based on the registers of the Chemin des Dames cemeteries. As our objective is to list and thus pay tribute to all the combatants fallen in the Chemin des Dames during WWI, we invite you to inform us of any combatant dead in the Chemin des Dames or still missing from our databases.
